Bishop Fleming, has promoted its director of corporate finance, Charles Davey, to corporate finance partner in its West Midlands offices. He joined the firm in 2015 and has since been instrumental in the completion of a number of major deals for clients, including business sales, family transitions, acquisitions and fund-raisings, working with a wide range of businesses and funders across the region.

Clemence Hoar Cummings has appointed Tanoushka Kaur and Lana Smith as a semi-senior accountants. Kaur is currently studying towards her ACA exams having previously obtained a first-class degree in accounting and finance. Her main area of expertise is charity accounting, having previously trained in the specialist department of a mid-sized London accountancy firm. Smith has previously worked as a semi-senior accountant and VAT manager at a small local practice. She is AAT qualified and primarily deals with limited company accounts, VAT and personal tax returns and will be commencing training towards the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) exams.

HWB has promoted Gary Brown from associate director to director of its legal specialism team. He has been with the firm for more than a decade since he joined its accounts and audit team in 2006, when HWB merged with Rossell Hicks. Brown has previously worked with various solicitors and other professional firms which have particular compliance requirements.

Danielle Vollentine has been appointed as business services manager at Watson Buckle. She is a member of the ICAEW and the Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) and in her new role will support the firm’s growing business client base of sole traders, partnerships, limited companies and more with a range of expert business and tax planning services.

Scott Newman has been promoted to associate director at Johnston Carmichael Wealth. He moves up to the role after joining the firm a decade ago where he leads the company’s activity in wealth advisory, for customers across Inverness and the Highlands.

Alan Beller, Werner Brandt, Takafumi Sato and Kurt Schacht have been reappointed to serve a second three-year term as Trustees of the IFRS Foundation. Their new terms start 1 January 2018 and ends 31 December 2020. Beller is senior counsel at law firm Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton LLP and a former director of the Division of Corporate Finance at the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). Brandt is the former CFO of SAP SE in Germany and has also served as a member of the Board of the Accounting Standards Committee (DRSC) of Germany. Sato is the President of the Japan Exchange Regulation and has previously served as commissioner of the Financial Services Agency in Japan. Schacht is the managing director of CFA Institute in New York and the former chairman of the US SEC’s Investor Advisory Committee.
