Johnston Carmichael has appointed Jane Ferguson as a partner in the audit team. The ex Big Four auditor brings more than 18 years’ experience in audit, assurance and financial reporting across Scotland. Based in Glasgow, Ferguson will work closely with clients across the firm’s UK offices and their key sectors. She is experienced in both IFRS and UK GAAP, supporting smaller privately owned business through to large corporate groups to resolve complex areas of accounting. Previusly she was a director at PwC.

Evelyn Partners has appointed Kelly Klein as a partner in valuation and modelling practice based in London. Klein has 19 years’ experience providing all types of valuation services including financial, reporting, tax and commercial valuations, to clients across the UK and internationally. In her new role, she will join a team of 35 specialists and will focus on expanding the depth and breadth of services in this space to clients in the UK and internationally. Previously she was a managing director at Interpath, leading on commercial and strategic valuations.

BTG Advisory, part of the Begbies Traynor Group, has appointed Sannan Khan as a partner and national lead for investigation, integrity and compliance services in its UK forensics team. Khan, an accredited counter fraud specialist (ACFS) and ACA chartered accountant brings nearly a decade of experience in managing complex, cross-border financial and non-financial investigations. He joins from BDO where has a partner, having spent nearly eight years at the firm.

Deloitte has promoted David Mitchell to office senior partner for Glasgow. An audit partner at the firm since 2016, Mitchell has over 20 years of experience in professional services, and his priorities include supporting all Deloitte’s business lines, with the aim of promoting sustainable economic growth and helping businesses across the UK to leverage the potential of the energy transition agenda in Scotland. In his new role, Mitchell will be responsible for leading Glasgow’s team of 325 staff based at its Queen Street office.

PwC has appointed three partners as sector leads, with Amish Patel as public sector transport leader, Katie Johnston as devolved and local government leader and Iain Alexander as health services sector leader. Patel also leads the consulting practice across the UK regions and is a partner sponsor of a PwC pro-bono programme to provide coaching and mentoring to female and minority ethnic colleagues in the transport industry. Johnston has a wealth of experience in transforming service delivery, and is also PwC’s lead partner for the Department of Work and Pensions (DWP), while Alexander specialises in financial improvement and has worked on a number of high profile financial turnaround projects for the NHS.

RSM UK has appointed Mark Crawford as a consulting director in the business transformation team. He brings over 26 years of experience in operations consulting, advising businesses in the manufacturing and industrial products sector, and will focus on growing the firm’s manufacturing client base, and strengthening its procurement, supply chain and business transformation capabilities. Crawford was previously at EY, where he spent six years as a partner, advanced manufacturing & mobility. Meantime, Daniel Haden has been promoted to audit director in the Birmingham office after four years at the firm, and he has more than a decades’ audit experience, most recently as an audit responsible individual (RI) working on large and listed audits.

Simmons Gainsford has appointed Faher Mahmood as outsourcing manager in its Fl3xiBooks division. Mahmood brings a wealth of experience to his new role and will support the team with client deliverables, assist clients in driving business growth, and strengthen relationships within Fl3xiBooks and the wider firm. He joins from Buzzacott, where he was a senior manager providing outsourcing solutions to FCA-regulated clients, and previously spent over 16 years at Throgmorton, part of Apex Group.

Lloyd’s of London has appointed Alexandra Cliff as chief financial officer (CFO) to take over from Burkhard Keese on 1 May 2025 following a long-established succession plan. Cliff joined Lloyd’s as deputy CFO in November 2022 and currently serves on the executive committee. She has over 20 years of experience in the insurance industry, having held senior finance roles in insurance and broking firms including Direct Line Group, StarStone, and AJ Gallagher. Cliff is a chartered accountant and spent eight years at PwC in both London and the US. Keese leaves to focus on investment roles in the German insurance market, but will remain a strategic advisor to Lloyd’s and will focus on the development of the risk transfer vehicle London Bridge 2.

John Wood Group has appointed Iain Torrens as interim chief financial officer (CFO). Torrens will also join the board as an executive director, effective immediately. His appointment is interim while the company conducts a comprehensive search process for a permanent CFO, following the resignation of Arvind Balan. Torrens is a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Ireland, Torrens brings over three decades of finance experience. Most recently, he was chairman and non-executive director of Guernsey headquartered Praxis Group Ltd, and previously was CFO at TalkTalk Group and ICAP.
