KPMG has appointed Sarah Willows as chief financial officer and head of operations. She was previously head of energy and starts her new role when she returns from taking 14 months maternity leave. Willows replaces Mike McDonagh who was formerly head of operations and is now returning to client work and Paul Long who was CFO and is now stepping down.

FTI Consulting has appointed Sarah Lang, Peter Scholes and Ben Tausig as partners, with all three joining from KPMG where they were also partners. The trio will become partners of FTI Consulting’s European tax practice in London. As well as this, they will become senior managing directors within the tax practice’s corporate finance and restructuring segment. Lane has over 20 years of experience in banking, international tax, and advising on the interaction between tax and regulation. Scholes has more than 25 years of experience in UK and international tax and Tausig has 14 years of experience in advising multinational insurance groups on tax and capital efficient group structures, UK and U.S.-controlled foreign company rules and overall tax strategy.

Claire Bailey-Scott has re-joined Moore Thompson as a tax manager after training with the firm more than 20 years ago and then working at the practice as a tax senior. She is a fellow of the association of Taxation Technicians (ATT) and has worked at firms across Lincolnshire.  

Accountancy firm, Hallidays, adds Helen Johnson to its group as a team manager. Her role will include supporting the trainees to develop their skills by providing work shadowing and coaching.

Johnston Carmichael has appointed Richard Bathgate as director of restructuring in its Aberdeen office. He joins after being at PwC for 11 years where he gained experience in major corporate recovery and restructuring projects in the global energy sector.

Five members have joined UHY Hacker Young’s tax department. Rebecca Martindale joins with experience in advising on matters relating to trusts. Iain Wheat and Kim Cottee join as tax seniors specialising in corporate and personal tax and Matthew Jones and Hannah Kasem join as trainees.

RSM has appointed Justine McInnes as its first indirect tax director in Gatwick. McInnes is qualified as a solicitor and tax adviser with twenty years’ experience working in indirect tax with the Big Four firms. She has experience in many areas of indirect tax, with particular expertise in the financial services and real estate sectors. RSM has also appointed Bart Somerville as a corporate finance director. He joins from BDO where he was a director in the valuation team and has also previously worked at Deloitte for five years and PwC in Toronto for seven years.

Peter Ball, a Big Four tax specialist, has joined Smith & Williamson as a partner from EY. A member of CIOT, Ball will work from the London and Cheltenham offices, helping private clients, particularly business owners, with all aspects of their private tax affairs.

Tax managers, Mike Davey and Pujah Joshi, have joined Mazars’ tax team in the midlands. In his new role, Davey will be advising owner-managed businesses on tax matters and Joshi joins after previously working with a wide range of clients over the years.

The International Integrated Reporting Council (IIRC) has appointed Louise Davidson, chief executive officer of the Australian Council of Superannuation Investors, to its board of directors. She will begin a three year term on the 1 October.

The Pensions Administration Standards Association’s (PASA) chairman, Margaret Snowdon, has been appointed by Treasury to the Steering Group for the Pensions Dashboard prototype project, launched by the economic secretary on 12 September. She will represent the pensions the pensions industry by providing insight and challenge to the new initiative.
