In this week’s moves and appointments roundup, director promotions at Mercer & Hole, RSM appoints a tax partner, Wilson Wright appoints an IT manager to ensure the firm is ready for Making Tax Digital

Jamie Wooldridge and Jolene Upshall have been promoted to director at Mercer & Hole. Woolridge will take on a lead role in the audit department at the firm’s Milton Keynes office. He will provide audit and non-audit related accountancy services, primarily focussed on SMEs across a variety of industries. Upshall will be based in the Rickmansworth office and will take responsibility for a range of audit clients, as well as providing business services support for non-audit clients.

RSM has appointed Kevin Edwards as a tax partner in its Nottingham office. He specialises in corporate tax for clients such as, owner-managed businesses, subsidiaries of foreign parent companies and large UK based groups. He has previously undertaken tax advisory work on restructuring, employee share schemes, mergers and acquisitions and advising on tax planning strategies.

Wilson Wright has appointed Amrit Heir as an IT manager to ensure the firm is ready to implement the new changes under government’s making Tax Digital scheme. He will ensure the firm’s IT needs are met and that the IT systems run smoothly and efficiently.

Gibson Booth Limited has appointed Becky Shelswell as an accounts assistant. She has joined from an accountancy firm in Sheffield and will help with the dealings of limited companies, including preparing annual accounts.

Phill Johns has joined Rowanmoor Consultancy as a regulated consultant for Wales and the south west. He advises on all areas of financial planning, specialising in pensions and investments. He has previously worked for Lord Clarke as an independent financial adviser and was also an adviser at Old Mutual Wealth. He has also worked as an account manager at Scottish widows, Clerical Medial and Prudential.

Creaseys has appointed five trainees to work in five different departments. Edward Saunders has joined the audit and accounts team within corporate and business. Liam Hickland joins the corporate and business tax department. Jonathon Powell has joined the private client tax department. Louise Songhurst will train within bureau services and Georgia Lambert will train as a member of the internal accounts team.

Alvarez & Marsal Taxand has appointed Mairéad Warren de Búrca as a managing director in its indirect tax team, leading the VAT practice in the UK. She has previous experience in advising around VAT cash flow opportunities, restructuring, contingency planning and running the VAT for formal trading insolvencies.
