North west firm, Mitchell Charlesworth, has made two appointments and three promotions. Chris McEnaney has been appointed assistant manager in the audit and accounts team in the Liverpool office. He joins the firm from ERC Chartered Accountants and has experience of both financial and management reporting having worked in practice and industry. Anne Griffiths has joined the firm as PR Manager from law firm Brabners. A specialist in PR and communications, Anne has more than 15 years’ professional services marketing experience having previously worked in the legal, property and accountancy sectors. Along with these appointments, Sarah Guppy, Mike Faragher and Chris Nanson have been promoted to audit and accounts assistant manager. Guppy works in the firms Liverpool office and trained at PwC while studying accounting at Newcastle University and joined Mitchell Charlesworth in 2013. Faragher is part of the Widnes office and Anson currently works in the Warrington office.
Milsted Langdon has celebrated 20 of its trainees passing their exams as part of their professional training with the firm. Rob Kirk and Nick Showering passed their final exams to become chartered certified accountants and Iain Haggerty, part of the firm’s expert tax team, has completed his chartered tax advisor qualification, to name a few.
A former HSBC senior commercial banking manager has been appointed by Yorkshire-based Crowther Accountants as its business development manager. David Busfield joins the firm with over 40 years’ experience in the banking industry. He started his career with Midland Bank in 1967 where he initially worked in the retail banking sector before moving into the commercial and corporate environment over 20 years ago.
Scottish Building Society has appointed Raymond Abbott as chairman, effective 27 July 27 2017. He takes over the role from Rob Golbourn who will remain as non-executive director until he retires from the Board in October. Abbott, who is a chartered accountant, has been vice-chairman and senior independent director at the Society since 2015, and a member of the Board since 2013. Abbott has great financial sector experience and was previously managing director of Alliance Trust Equity Partners. Prior to that he founded the UK venture investor Albany Ventures and was director of Investment at British Linen Bank.
