RSM has appointed Stephen Harrison as technology risk and internal controls leader for Scotland in its risk and governance team. With a career spanning over two decades, he brings extensive financial service and large corporate experience, advising boards and c-suites on regulatory compliance. In his new role, Harrison will lead the internal controls and technology risk service in Scotland, while contributing nationally to RSM’s wider risk and governance offering. Previously he was a partner at Johnston Carmichael, and also worked at Royal Bank of Scotland as head of controls testing & assurance.
Moore Kingston Smith has appointed Lynn Lin as a partner and head of its dedicated China and Asia-Pacific desk, based in London. A chartered management accountant and ATT-qualified tax adviser with over 15 years of commercial and technical experience across a range of industries, Lin specialises in helping businesses expand internationally, from setting up overseas subsidiaries to managing accounting and compliance, securing funding and navigating cross-border tax issues. Previously she was a partner and head of Asia at Gerald Edelman.
Cowgills has appointed David Simmons as lead advisory partner in the deal advisory team and promoted Andy Bates to partner, in the accounts service line. Simmons brings 27 years of experience in corporate finance, working on MBOs, trade sales and private equity deals. Previously he was a corporate finance partner at Azets. Bates is compliance lead for the firm and is an ACCA qualified chartered accountant.
Old Mill has promoted Amy Dedman to head of small business. Her promotion marks an important milestone in the ongoing investment in future leadership and reinforces the firm’s commitment to delivering specialist support for small businesses across the southwest. Dedman joined Old Mill straight from college in 2014 as a trainee accountant before becoming an adviser, and has completed her AAT, ATT and ACA qualifications. In her new role, she will be responsible for the small business team, while also championing career progression and development.
Wbg has appointed Garry Clarke, former finance director & chief operating officer at Localist (formerly Enterprise Foods), as chief financial officer with a remit to drive forward the firm’s growth strategy. Clarke replaces previous CFO, Yvonne Kemp, who is going to support Wbg shareholders N4 Partners across a number of its investments. Clarke, a chartered accountant, has extensive experience in a variety of financial roles across Scotland including Hewden, Clyde Union SPX and group financial controller at Clyde Blowers Capital.
Peninsula Group has appointed Ben Chaplin as group chief financial officer (CFO), responsible for the global finance function. Chaplin will succeed Jordan Foster, and has been with the business since 2001, most recently as managing director of Croner-i, publisher of Business & Accountancy Daily. Under Chaplin’s leadership, the Croner-i business continually delivered double digit annual growth, partnering with thousands of accountancy firms across the UK, and overseeing the rollout of a suite of new AI functions across the online customer platforms. Chaplin is a chartered accountant and originally trained at PKF.
Adnams has appointed Andy Driscoll as CFO in a permanent role, replacing interim funding director, Robin Paul, who will stand down in the coming weeks after a period of handover. A Deloitte qualified financial professional with significant financial leadership experience across FMCG and logistics sectors, Driscoll will formally join the business on 1 September 2025, and will also become an executive director of the Adnams board. Driscoll is currently group CFO at Constellation Cold Logistics.
FRP Corporate Finance has appointed Jessica Ring as a director as it looks to strengthen its advisory relationships with private equity investors and expand its footprint in the lower mid-market. Ring brings more than a decade of investment experience and will lead the firm’s national private equity efforts, working closely with all the teams across its UK-wide network to strengthen private equity investor relationships. Previously Ring was an investment director at MML Capital Partners.
Daymer Group fiduciary and consulting practice, launched by former KPMG partner Richard Scott-Hopkins, with offices in London and the Cayman Islands, has appointed Grant Harding as an independent director and Katrina West as general counsel. ACA and CPA chartered accountant Harding has over 15 years of experience in financial services, with a focus on public and private equity markets, credit, and technology driven businesses. He is a non executive director of Tholus Capital and was previously group CFO and board member at private equity firm Samena Capital, having originally trained at EY. West joins from Blantyre Capital Limited, where she was general counsel and chief compliance officer.
The Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC) has appointed three new members to its board, Sarah Ellis, co-founder of Amazing If; Hana Searson, director of talent, culture and capability at BT Group; and Kevin Freeguard, former CEO of Gattaca, a specialist engineering and technology recruitment firm, the latter in an observer role. The 11-strong board consists of independent experts who serve as non-executive directors at the REC. As well as their important governance role, they will help the REC continue to advocate for the importance of the industry in securing growth and being fundamental to the success of the UK economy.
Aqilla has restructured its board, promoting Chris Tredwell to chief operating officer and he will join the accounting software firm’s board. In his new role, Tredwell will be responsible for business growth by building on core strengths and identifying opportunities for improvement across all operational areas. He will also play a part in overseeing the ongoing rollout of native AI-enabled features across the company’s accounting and reporting application.
