Shaw Gibbs has appointed Chris Wharton as outsourcing partner based in the Farnham office. With 20 years of experience working with entrepreneurial businesses, he specialises in systems selection and transformation within client’s financial functions. Wharton brings a robust practice background in sectors such as real estate, manufacturing, retail, hospitality, and legal. He joins the firm from Cooper Parry (previously Haines Watts) Esher, where he was an associate partner.

Albert Goodman has appointed Abi Kingsbury and Mark Thompson as directors based at the Taunton headquarters. Both chartered accountants and tax advisors, Kingsbury joins as a director in the farms and estates team, and Thompson in the business services team. Kingsbury was previously an associate director at Evelyn Partners, while Thompson joins from Peplows where he was a director, and specialised in supporting property and construction businesses.

Armstrong Watson has appointed Kirsty Wilson as tax director, based in the Glasgow office. She will lead and grow the corporate tax team, overseeing project management of corporate tax compliance and advisory work in Scotland and nationally. Wilson brings 25 years of experience in both in-house and practice roles. After training at KPMG, where she qualified as a chartered tax adviser and worked for 12 years, Wilson moved to insurance group Gallagher, French Duncan and, most recently, AIM-listed software company Idox, where she was head of tax for the global group.

Wright Vigar has announced that Louise Lane, associate director and head of crypto, has been recognised with the award of Woman of the Year – FinTech/Crypto at the Citywealth Powerwoman Awards International 2025. This award is a testament to Lane’s exceptional contributions and leadership in the crypto sector. As a valued member of Wright Vigar, where she has worked for the last two decades, crypto tax expert Lane has consistently showcased a blend of technical acumen, strategic thinking, and exceptional problem-solving skills.

EY has appointed Julie Linn Teigland as EY Global vice chair – alliances and ecosystems. Teigland will now lead the growth of strategic alliances and develop new collaborations with established and emerging market players. Teigland has been with EY since 2002, in a number of managing partner roles and has  more than 30 years of experience in professional services. Most recently, for the last six years, she has been area managing partner for EY Europe, Middle East, India and Africa (EMEIA).

Kreston Global has appointed Sharon Omer-Kaye, partner at James Cowper Kreston, as chair of the accountancy network’s global private client services (GPCS) group. She has deep experience in the private client field, both technically and at a leadership level. Having qualified as a chartered tax adviser and a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP), Omer-Kaye leads the private client and global mobility team at James Cowper Kreston, and brings that experience to the global group, leading other international private client specialists and wider tax teams to help strengthen the network’s offering.

The Financial Conduct Authority has appointed Martyn Beauchamp as CEO of the Financial Services Compensation Scheme on a permanent basis after he stepped in as interim chief executive, a role he has held since October 2023 after predecessor Caroline Rainbird resigned in June of that year. During this time, he has overseen the FSCS’s transition to a new operating model. Previously he worked in financial services for over 20 years, including as CEO of Sainsburys Argos Financial Services and international director at Tesco Bank.

The IFRS Foundation has announced the appointment of Rowena Chu as a trustee for a three-year term, replacing Teresa Ko. She brings decades of leadership experience from working in financial services in Asia and North America, and is co-founder and chair of investment platform Orion3 Group, where she oversees strategy, governance, compliance and capital raising. Previously Chu spent more than 40 years in investment banking, and was with Deutsche Bank, where she was chair, Hong Kong coverage and vice chair, Greater China coverage. She started her career as an auditor of investment banks at PwC, New York.
