Fuel costs are at record levels and, with further increases in fuel duty planned from January 2012, there is no sign of change. While many companies are focused on reducing finance and maintenance expenses, fuel often tends to be overlooked in the overall cost equation. But there are a number of quick-wins to reduce fuel costs quickly and without radical corporate-level changes. The best fuel savings can be achieved by removing private fuel benefit; considering whole life cost (WLC) car policy design; intelligent use of fuel card data linked with driver training, and for fleet owners, consider downsizing vans.
