Ray Winstone threatens to quit UK over tax burden

Actor Ray Winstone is getting himself worked up over the UK tax landscape, threatening to head off for sunnier climes if the situation does not improve and he sees a real return on his tax contribution.

Famous for playing East End hardmen in films like The Departed, Winstone was being interviewed on Talksport, when he threatened to leave the country due to the lack of return he received from the taxes he paid.

On the taxman, Winstone said: 'What does he give you back? I drive down the road, there's more holes in the road than there are in a tennis racket, and we've got no hospitals, we've got fire stations closing down.'

He said: 'I can see myself leaving quite soon actually. I love this country but I've had enough of it. I don't see what we are being given back.'

Currently based in Essex, the 56-year-old actor did not say where he would relocate to, but has previously ruled out a move to the US.
