A 400-year-old removal company, which was the star of a recent TV show, has moved out of administration, following a deal arranged by BDO.

Pickfords will become Pickfords Move Management, having been bought out of administration under a new shell company.

The deal negotiated by the administrators means that no redundancies will be made at the removals business, though details of the debts accumulated or the level of recuperation that creditors will receive has not been confirmed by BDO at this stage.

Joint administrator and BDO business restructuring partner, David Gilbert said: 'This outcome preserves all 900 jobs and prevents the demise of a 400-year old household name. With this sale, the business can now move forward on a secure financial footing. Going forward, it will be business as usual at all sites, operating under the Pickfords name, and all contracts, moves and orders will be fulfilled. No disruption at all is anticipated and clients will continue to receive the same high standards of Pickfords service.'

Pickfords had been part of a Channel 5 documentary series 'The Removal Men', chronicling the challenges and experiences of staff at the company.
