Revenue & Customs has announced it is seeking a new chief information officer to take on 'one of the biggest and most challenging jobs in Europe'. The appointment is a three-year full-time role, with a maximum starting salary of £180,000. The successful candidate will have extensive information technology leadership and management experience at a senior level, ideally within the FTSE 100 or a large public sector organisation, some of which should be international. Particular attention will need to be paid to internal IT and data protection security following the loss of 25m taxpayers' details by the Revenue last year. Deepak Singh is currently the acting chief information officer until a replacement is appointed. The closing date for applications is 2 February 2009.
