RSM partners vote for US-UK transatlantic partnership

Partners at RSM in the US and UK vote overwhelmingly in favour of plan to create a ‘transatlantic partnership’ with new LLP structure and leadership board with collective decision making powers over strategy and investment

The UK firm’s 352 partners approved the new structure in a ‘near unanimous’ vote, RSM said, with the next step to set up a new limited liability partnership (LLP) before 1 January 2026.

RSM told Business & Accountancy Daily that the new LLP ‘will govern the existing entities which remain. The new structure will create an umbrella governing entity that enables collective decisions on strategy and investment, and on its own terms. It will align governance, including a common approach to financial incentives, client service and future investments, while remaining partner owned’.

The UK and US operations will continue to report on their own respective financial results independent from each other. A decision on how the transatlantic partnership reports is yet to be agreed internally and in line with regulators, and the business will continue to operate under the RSM brand.
