RSM Tenon saves 26 specialist engineering jobs

Joint administrators RSM Tenon have announced the safeguarding of all 26 jobs at Mowat Technical & Design Services Ltd (MTDS) after selling the business and assets to Aberdeen-based Enterprise Engineering Services Ltd (EES).

The deal, which is for an undisclosed sum has been secured three weeks after MTDS went into administration. Founded in 1997, MTDS provided specialist engineering, surveying, fabrication, installation and commissioning services to a wide range of clients in the energy, utility, infrastructure, transport and construction sectors.

EES has acquired the assets, property, goodwill and current and potential pipeline of work of MTDS and all staff will now transfer across to EES with immediate effect. The company currently employs 180 staff, both on and offshore, and operates across the UK and internationally in the oil and gas, renewables, hydro and utilities sectors.

This deal does not include the intellectual property for an innovative hydro-based renewable power system developed by MTDS, which the administrators say has considerable commercial potential and remains available for sale.

Iain Fraser, joint administrator and RSM Tenon partner, said: 'The deal is an excellent fit for both companies and we are particularly pleased to have secured the deal so quickly and that all remaining jobs will be saved.'

EES managing director Andy Scott said: 'The acquisition will provide us with additional specialist expertise that will allow us to continue to expand into new markets and maintain our growth plans.'
