The findings came in the wake of media reports last week that Rishi Sunak is said to be considering scrapping the tax as a policy measure for the next general election.

The survey by Kingsley Napley found that around 55% wanted to see the complete abolition of inheritance tax (IHT), a slight rise compared to last October, when support for the total abolition of the tax fell short of a majority (48%).

Results such as this clearly show there has been a definite shift in public sentiment, with more people supporting the idea of the government removing the tax completely.
