Shaw Gibbs swaps private equity backer to ECI Partners

Private equity backed top 40 firm Shaw Gibbs changes private equity firm in major deal with ECI Partners after four years and tenfold revenue growth

The investment marks a major ‘milestone’ for Shaw Gibbs and provides a full realisation for Apiary Capital, which invested in the accountancy and business advisory firm in 2022, increasing revenue nearly tenfold.

Shaw Gibbs has secured investment from ECI Partners, the first stake in the accountancy sector for the mid-market private equity firm. Ranked 33rd in the annual Top 75 Firms survey, Shaw Gibbs reported fee revenue of £63m for financial year 2025, with income up 33% year on year after a swathe of mergers and acquisitions as part of an ambitious buy and build programme.

Since Apiary’s investment in 2022 the business has completed 14 acquisitions, expanding its reach across the UK and Ireland. Recent additions, including Alliotts, Martin and Company, and Crowleys DFK in Ireland, strengthened the group’s regional footprint to support clients through local relationships backed by national scale.
