Despite an uncertain 2019, recruitment consultants at Morgan McKinley saw a dynamic period in the accountancy and finance jobs market at the end of the year, giving hope for a strong 2020, especially in regulatory areas
The year 2019 was a steady and consistent year in the accountancy profession jobs market and despite all the political and economic turbulence, vacancy numbers and salaries stayed static throughout the year. Commerce and industry
For finance professionals in commerce and industry, the year started strongly in terms of recruitment, before the predicted drop off in March and April, while the second quarter was challenging due to the delay of Brexit. Many roles were shelved.
Matters improved in June as companies tweaked business plans in order to react to the market. The usually quiet summer months proved fruitful, with recruitment continuing, particularly around finance projects.
