In these troubled times, banks and other lending institutions get increasingly nervous about the state of their ‘loan’ books, looking for signs of businesses being unable to meet their interest and capital repayments as they fall due. Ultimately, the inability to repay debt can force companies into administration or liquidation – which explains why we have recently seen many ‘household names’ go to the wall.
