| AS 2014: business rate relief extended amidst rate reform

Business rates will be overhauled with plans to report back by early 2016, the Chancellor confirmed in his Autumn Statement. At the same time a number of business rate exemptions and discounts for small business will be extended, while the wider business rates system will be put out to consultation in early 2015

The austerity cuts will continue for the next three years although the Chancellor has announced a number of major infrastructure projects in his Autumn Statement, as well as a number of new and extended tax reliefs for business, particularly for research and development for small business innovators, tax breaks for orchestras and childrens' TV production companies, and even the removal of air passenger duty (APD) for children under 12 from 2015
