Tenon's film & TV unit sold to Saffery Champness

Saffery Champness has become the latest firm to take a slice out of RSM Tenon, agreeing a deal to take control of its film and TV unit.

The 17-strong team will be reunited with Julian Hedley, who now heads up Saffery Champness' sports & entertainment practice, having himself left Tenon in January last year.

The news of the undisclosed acquisition comes only days after it was confirmed that another firm, Grant Thornton, had purchased Tenon's IVA business in a £7m deal.

Jonathan Fox, managing partner of Saffery Champness said: 'Saffery Champness is fast becoming the market leading accountancy practice in the sports and entertainment sector. The addition of leading expertise in the TV and film sector further cements this key position, but more importantly is good news for the firm as a whole, which has made growth in these sectors a core area of focus in its 2011-14 business plan.'

The acquisition will see former Tenon directors John Graydon and Nigel Burke join Saffery Champness as partners and the team will be based at the firm's Holborn office from 1 October.

RSM Tenon was unavailable for comment.
