This month sees the UK premier of a new documentary film about tax avoidance narrated by actor Dominic West and with a score by members of Radiohead and Massive Attack.

The film, UK Gold follows a vicar, William Taylor, from a small parish in Hackney as he investigates the history and impact of Britain's offshore tax havens in a journey that takes him from Clapton in East London to the Cayman Islands.

Production company Brass Moustache shot the feature-length documentary during the London 2012 Olympics and say it shows the 'dramatic battle' of Taylor's search as he reveals the City's role as 'the tax-haven nerve centre of the world'.

Director Mark Donne says: 'To have a quintessentially English figure embarking on an odyssey to understand how London remains the financial capital of the world is in itself a fascinating narrative. To have this journey unfurling at the exact time that the eyes of the world were on this country, during the Jubilee and the Olympics, gives the story a powerful twist.'

The film will have its first public showing at London's East End film festival on 25 June, at the Troxy Theatre in Whitechapel chosen, the producers say, for its location mid-way between Canary Wharf and the City of London.
