The widening skills gap within accounting has been talked about for some time, and has grown even further over the last year. According to SmartVault, 62% of professionals believe that this gap - the void between the skills employees possess and the skills they need to help the business succeed - is widening.
Therefore in order to gain a better understanding of the accounting sector’s thoughts on such a crucial subject, the team at the accounting courses website CoursesOnline surveyed thousands of accounting managers. The objective was to identify what factors they thought were most responsible for the skills gap, and what the starting point should be for addressing it.
