Changes to EU VAT invoice rules

HMRC has issued responses to its consultation paper on the new EU invoicing rules. This can be found on its website, issued on 17 December 2012.

Little changes, but the following points may be of interest:

• The rules concerning secure means of sending and receiving electronic invoices will be relaxed and it will be possible to send electronic invoices by email with the same ease as sending a printed copy.

• The rule allowing retailers to issue less detailed VAT invoices for sales under £250 will be extended to all businesses.
