What’s it like being an accountancy apprentice?

At the start of National Apprenticeship Week, Accountancy Daily talks to apprentices about their experiences of training at top firms

UK businesses are increasingly looking for apprentices to attract diverse talent and opportunity to their business, and thousands of apprentices are training in accountancy firms.

Running from 6 – 12 February 2023, National Apprenticeship Week 2023 brings together businesses and apprentices across the country to promote the benefits of apprenticeships.

Currently in her third year on EY’s four-year digital degree apprenticeship programme, Amber Jay Coombs was excited by the prospect of financial independence from doing an apprenticeship.

‘By doing an apprenticeship I would also have a degree, valuable experience and be able to progress in my career. Also, I knew that an apprenticeship would give me the opportunity to work and network with a diverse group of people, with different experiences and backgrounds, and to build a support network around me.’
