Workplace adaptations for neurodivergent employees

Neurodiversity Celebration Week this year falls between 17 and 23 March 2025, and with news that 13% of UK employers have faced an employment tribunal claim relating to neurodiversity, now is a good time to review employment practices to ensure they support neurodivergent staff.

My client is in the car manufacturing industry who has taken on an employee as a data analyst. During recruitment, they disclosed that they were neurodivergent. My client wants to start in the best way with this employee, as they are bringing a lot of new skills to the business. They’re going to meet with them to discuss any adjustments they need. Is there anything they need to consider?

Neurodiversity is the name given to the difference in how an individual’s brain works and interprets information, in comparison to those who are ‘neurotypical’ and react in the way society expects them to.
