Young people unsure about career in accountancy

The majority of young people have misconceptions about careers in accountancy and are put off joining the profession by high academic expectations and expensive training

A demand for high grades and training costs were the key factors cited as downsides by 16 to 25 year olds, with two thirds (62%) saying that the profession was only open to high graders, found research by Grant Thornton UK LLP

Many felt that the profession was landlocked behind a university degree and that attaining training for accountancy qualifications was expensive.
