Companies House has released the latest report on the implementation of the Economic Crime and Corporate Transparency Act 2023 (ECCT Act). 

The report stated that since March 2024, 151,000 company addresses have been removed from the register, with 920 companies entering the pathway to expedited strike-off, in what Companies House said would help in ‘protecting innocent people from identity hijacking.’ 

The report also touched on identity verification.

‘As of 31 March 2026, Companies House has issued 3.81m personal codes and expects to verify 6-7m individuals by November 2026. So far, these have been linked to 3.74m appointments,’ the report stated.

Companies House stated that 94% of those who had completed the first identity check found instructions clear, and 90% found the process easy.
