The chancellor's 50% tax on top earners will drive entrepreneurs out of the City, with research claiming the measure is unpopular among the rich, according to the Financial Times . The Conservatives say the Labour party sees high earners as just a source of revenue and that an incoming Tory government would put an end to the 50p rate. Ernst and Young says that Labour's 50p measure could leave top earners questioning the future of their career in the UK, leading them to think 'high earners are not welcome here'. But the new measure will not compel people to leave immediately as it does not come into force until April 2011.
