70% of mid-market businesses say FRS 102 changes will impact profit

As businesses begin to prepare for overhaul of standards from next January onwards, only 1% believe profits will not be hit

In a survey of 500 mid-market business leaders by BDO, 70% said that mandatory changes to UK financial reporting standards will have an impact on their company’s bottom line.

Respondents to BDO’s latest economic engine survey, whose company's accounts are prepared under FRS 102, said the changes to revenue recognition and lease accounting rules will affect their net profit figure.

Meanwhile, 29% agreed that their bottom line ‘may be affected but they perhaps hadn’t yet checked’, and only 1% of those surveyed said they ‘would not be affected’.
