A retired accountant who sent abusive, sexist and offensive emails during a dispute with an estate management company has been ordered to pay more than £15,000 in costs to ICAEW
Over a three-year period, David Forge, a chartered accountant and fellow member of ICAEW since 1981, broke the institute’s Code of Ethics, letting down the profession with a lack of acceptable behaviour.
ICAEW has taken action following a disciplinary hearing, banning Ford from practising as an accountant, stripped him of his membership of ICAEW, and ordered him to pay costs of £15,295. Forge did not file a respondent’s statement and he did not attend the hearing. He ignored all emails about the hearing and it was delayed several times. Days before the June hearing, he emailed ICAEW denying knowledge about the hearing and said he was away on a cruise and could not read attachments on his mobile phone.
