Girish Patel, 71, was sentenced to five and a half years imprisonment at Southwark Crown Court last week after he attempted to fraudulently obtain sole possession and control of various businesses and assets.
This included forging his mother’s will after she left her entire fortune to his elder brother, Yashwant Patel, following her death in 2011.
The inheritance included a one-third share in Aumkar Plantations, which owns 20,000 acres of land with palm oil in Malaysia.
Girish also attempted to take control of a commercial property in Tooting, London which was owned by the family, currently valued at £44m.
In 2014, Girish sought to take sole control of the property, indicating to Companies House that his brother, who was a director of the family company which owned the property, had resigned from his position.
