In a week where the US government has lifted export controls on Fable and Mythos AI models following fears of serious cyber-attacks being quelled, ICAS has called on the UK government to ‘take a far more active role in regulating AI.’
This announcement followed a statement by ‘The Five Eyes’, an intelligence alliance between Australia, Canada, New Zealand, the UK, and US, which warned: ‘While Al will help us improve cyber defence over time, it also accelerates the speed, scale, and sophistication of cyber threats.’
With the political turbulence continuing following the resignation of Keir Starmer last week, it has been reported that the prime minister hopeful, Andy Burnahm, is planning a major revamp of the UK’s AI strategy.
