Accountants signal slight return of confidence

Business confidence in the UK has returned to positive territory for the first time in a year but remains fragile amid a backdrop of economic volatility

Despite the uptick in confidence, levels were still below pre-covid times and there were concerns about the rising cost of accessing finance and increasing prevalence of late payment of invoices, both indicators worsening over Q1.

The findings of the quarterly ACCA and IMA Global Economic Conditions survey of accountants worldwide showed that economic confidence was improving as worries about failing suppliers have fallen to the lowest level since 2020.
