Plans for overhaul of dividend rules

The government is considering whether to strengthen the rules relating to dividend payouts and distributions to prevent them from undermining the viability of a company.

The government will review dividend treatment following the insolvency and corporate governance consultation from the Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy (BEIS). Respondents to the call for evidence included ICAEW, EY, KPMG and the Institute of Directors (IoD).
