Julie Palmer and Jason Greenhalgh of Begbies Traynor have been appointed as joint liquidators of Industry RE Ltd, on the application of the Secretary of State and following intervention from the Public Interest Unit.
The firm said the role of the joint liquidators is to lead new investigations into the conduct of Industry RE's director Ian Hamilton and the trading activities of the company, with the aim of recovering investors' funds. Industry RE's website describes it as 'one of the leading management consultancies, bringing together a network of world-class expertise across all sustainability disciplines'. The company headquarters are given as an address in Dubai, and amongst the activities listed are investments in renewable and eco-products and carbon credit trading.
Joint liquidator and Begbies Traynor partner Julie Palmer said: 'Concerns have been raised about the trading activities of this company and the whereabouts of assets purchased with funds provided by a large number of private investors. As part of our investigation, for which we are in the early stages, we would be interested in hearing from anyone with relevant information about Industry RE's director, Ian Hamilton, or claims regarding the transfer of assets away from the UK business.'
