Strathmore Hotels calls in Interpath after ‘sustained financial difficulties’

Scottish hotel group brings in administrators as the owner of eight properties in Scotland and north of England hits financial problems putting jobs at risk unless a buyer is found

James Alexander Dewar and Alistair McAlinden of Interpath have been appointed as joint administrators of Strathmore Hotels Limited, which has eight hotels mainly located in the Scottish Highlands and Argyll, with two properties in England in Harrogate and the Lake District.

The appointment of administrators followed a winding up petition in July after the East Kilbride based hotel group had come under ‘sustained creditor pressure for a number of months’.

‘As a result, the decision was taken to seek the appointment of the joint administrators, who will now take steps to assess and review options for the business moving forward,’ the company said.

Administrators stressed it will be ‘very much business as usual’ at the eight hotels and they will continue to ‘trade as normal’, advising customers to ‘continue visiting the hotels’ while the Interpath team seek potential buyers, with the staff of 410 all retained.
