Birmingham City FC's owners' auditor resigns

BDO has resigned as auditor of the company that owns Birmingham City FC due to corporate governance concerns and being unable to obtain reliable information to perform their auditor role.

The announcement was made in a statement to the Hong Kong Stock Exchange by Birmingham International Holding CEO and managing director Peter Pannu.

He said: 'BDO resigns with immediate effect due to the auditor being unable to obtainconsistent, reliable and complete audit evidence and due to the auditor having reservations on the effectiveness of corporate governance and the system of internal controls of the Company.'

Pannu went on to say that efforts to allay concerns of the company's accounts - initially raised by BDO in the summer - were 'in vain' and are now seeking a new auditor.

As a result of the relationship terminating with BDO, Pannu said that the delay in publishing their annual results for as far back as the year ended 30 June 2011 would now be extended further.
