Despite a challenging 2022, where rising costs and pressures on revenue and cash flow impacted profitability, UK SMEs are significantly more optimistic about their prospects than this time last year, found Sage's annual survey of 12,000 global business leaders, Small Business, Big Opportunity.
Adoption of technology was critical to business confidence, but the UK respondents did not expect to make significant investment commitments.
Interestingly, UK businesses expressed the most confidence of any surveyed country
The findings reveal that UK SMBs felt the most confident about the potential growth of their business when compared with all surveyed countries, with 40% predicting that they will feel ‘very confident’ about the success of their business at the end of 2023 compared to 34% globally.
