Owner-managed businesses (OMBs) are facing one of the most complex operating environments in recent memory. The latest research from the Association of Practising Accountants (APA) highlights a cautious, measured mindset among business leaders as they respond to rising costs, labour shortages and policy uncertainty.

The overriding sentiment is one of pause rather than panic. Businesses are delaying major decisions, watching cashflow closely and prioritising agility over long-term commitment. In uncertain times, resilience is being redefined: not as aggressive growth, but as the ability to adapt quickly to changing conditions.
