The Charity Commission is ramping up its campaign to provide guidance on trustee responsibilities as financial and funding issues increase.

Currently, the commission’s guidance is not the first port of call for many trustees. The latest research showed that many trustees often seek advice from a fellow trustee or colleague (70%) or look online (59%).

However, the majority who use the regulator’s guidance found it helpful (94%) and most (89%) would recommend the guides to others, according to Commission research.

The ‘5-minute guides’ provide advice ranging from safeguarding to managing conflicts of interest. It will also serve as a basic toolkit for trustees who are managing the many demands of running a charity.
