Citigroup has said its chief financial officer and co-head of global markets are to be given pay rises, while its chief executive officer Vikram Pandit will continue to be on a salary of $1 (60p) per year.
In a regulatory filing to the US Securities and Exchange Commission, Citi said that its chief financial officer John Gerspach is to get a rise to $500,000 from $400,000, while James Forese, co-head of global markets, will have his salary more than doubled from $225,000 to $475,000.
The New York based financial institution faces restrictions on executive remuneration after being bailed out for $45bn by the US government last year. The new compensation falls within guidelines issued by Obama's pay czar Kenneth Feinberg.
