Sage’s delay over iXBRL is
bad news for accountants, but there are ways to avoid a filing disaster,
says Lesley Meall.
When news leaked that the deadline for mandatory online corporation
tax (CT) filing would pass without the promised updates to the software
packages Sage Accounts Production and Sage Accounts Production Advanced,
there was a furore. Maybe it was timing (the revelation coincided
with the end of the self-assessment season, when nerves are understandably
frayed); maybe it was genuine shock (it is almost unheard of for software
providers to miss such milestones); maybe it was just too good an
opportunity to waste (most software suppliers have the necessary systems
ready and waiting, though the same cannot be said of many accountants).
