Cooper Parry snaps up disruptor Hutcheon Mearns

Private equity backed Cooper Parry has acquired Scottish firm Hutcheon Mearns to expand reach north of the border with four new Scottish offices

Founded in Aberdeen in 2015, Hutcheon Mearns has 70 staff and provides outsourced CFO, corporate finance, deals and M&A advisory, and specialist recruitment, as well as tax and accounting services.

With a strong balance sheet and net assets of £2.8m reported in the FY25 accounts, Hutcheon Mearns is an ideal fit for the acquisitive Cooper Parry group. The Scottish firm describes itself as a ‘people first, fearless and “go all in” business’, which is attempting to shake up the staid image of accountancy’.

It has five offices in Scotland – Aberdeen, Dundee, Edinburgh and Glasgow, as well as a satellite office in London. The acquisition will expand Cooper Parry’s presence in Scotland, where it currently has a hub office in Edinburgh and earlier this year hired Neil Norman as regional head of Scotland.
