MPs have called for a national insurance break for employers as rising costs continue to weigh on businesses while more than one million young people remain out of education, employment or training.

The Work and Pensions committee has released a damning report into the current state of youth employment, education and training.

‘It is a travesty that over one million young people in the UK are not in employment, education or training,’ the report began.

It called for the higher national insurance contribution threshold to be extended to all workers under 25, arguing this would boost vacancies, particularly entry-level roles.
