David Whiscombe CTA (Fellow), LLB is a partner at chartered accountants and tax advisers BKL and a former HMRC tax inspector. Since 2016 he acts as the firm’s tax technical mentor and provides consultancy support on complex tax issues. www.bkl.co.uk

He has notched up 40 years as a tax professional and started his career at the Inland Revenue where he spent 12 years as an HMRC tax inspector before moving to the private practice as an associate director of a specialist tax consultancy. In 1991 he joined a four-partner firm in north London, Berg Kaprow Hay. A merger or two later, BKL’s tax practice now has a regional and national reputation.

Whiscombe is a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Taxation (CIOT) and has a Diploma in Law as well as qualifying as a barrister (though he does not practise as such).
