Dividend tax changes signal higher tax bills for contractors

Contractors are facing higher tax bills after a testing Summer Budget targets one-person limited companies with reviews of IR35 intermediaries legislation and the fallout from changes to dividend taxation, says Chris Barnard ACCA, accountancy technical manager at Crunch Accounting

The Conservatives call themselves the party of business, but in reality they have a tricky relationship with the business world. Big multinationals with small tax bills are bad. Medium-sized UK businesses, especially in the manufacturing industry, are great. Startups are also wonderful and deserving of all the support the Treasury can dream up.
