Economic trends: early warning on post-Brexit economy

Lack of certainty about the Brexit outcome is dampening UK activity as the global economy is in growth mode, Markit chief economist Chris Williamson warns

A rising tide lifts all boats, so the aphorism goes, but the reality is of course often different. The UK economy, for instance, looks likely to struggle to join the global flotilla over the next couple of years. Although worldwide economic growth is forecast to accelerate, the pace of expansion in the UK is expected to wane, the boat scuttled, so to speak, by Brexit uncertainty.
