As the country resigns itself to a bumpy Brexit on 31 March, HMRC will be relishing the prospect of the first upload of digital VAT returns. So better late than never, the Making Tax Digital for VAT trials were finally opened up to a wider audience in mid-October, adding nearly a million businesses to the trial sample from the specially selected coterie of initial software clients.
