While tackling the deficit will continue to be a centrepiece of policy, this Budget should offer opportunities for George Osborne to actually move beyond micro managing and introduce some more radical tax reforms. Inevitably there will be more swingeing cuts to the public sector budget and Whitehall departments, but the over-riding policy thrust is likely to lean towards underpinning growth and encouraging investment.
