HMRC rewrites share schemes guidance for share incentive plans, Save as You Earn (SAYE) and company share option plans, writes David Heaton
HMRC guidance on share schemes rewritten
The official guidance on what were once ‘approved’ share schemes (Share Incentive Plans, Save As You Earn, Company Share Option Plans and Enterprise Management Incentives) is in the process of being re-written, and the first fruits of that work are now available. The new employee tax advantaged share schemes user manual (ETASSUM for short) has been published on gov.uk at http://is.gd/r2sxiB.
Note that the employee share schemes user manual (ESSUM) and employment related securities manual (ERSM) are still available on the old HMRC website. The new manual is only available on the gov.uk website.
The new guidance is now in gov.uk style, so is delivered in bite-sized chunks easily read on a mobile device. The site is marked as still in ‘beta’, so there remains some tidying up to be done. Note too that some of the relevant information is on the main gov.uk site, rather than in the manual (eg, the registration and reporting rules at http://is.gd/pXsoJh)
