Administrators at MCR have announced that high street book chain Borders will close its doors on 22 December. Philip Duffy, Geoff Bouchier and David Whitehouse of MCR said it was not possible to agree a sale on any part of the business as a going concern. 'Therefore, regrettably, all stores will formally cease to trade on 22 December 2009,' they said in a statement today. Borders, which went into administration on 26 November, first opened in the UK in 1997. The closure will see a loss of around 1,150 jobs across the country.
